Antibiotic Resistance

Antibiotic Resistance

Sterillium® and Sterillium® med have been the number one choice for surgical and hygienic hand disinfection amongst Veterinary Professionals for years.

Antibiotic Resistance in both human and veterinary medicine and recently the SARS-CoV-2 has further increased awareness and the focus for infection prevention.

Resistant and multi- resistant bacteria, Gram-positive and Gram – negative, can survive on hands and surfaces if disinfection is not carried out on a regular base or when required to break the chain of cross contamination.

For example:

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa can survive on hands up 180 minutes and on surfaces 6 hours to 16 months.
  • Staphylococcus aureus can survive on hands up to 150 minutes and on surfaces 4 weeks to 17 months.

In addition, current research results indicate that the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 is significantly more stable on surfaces than the original or delta variant.

Hand and surface disinfection are both infection prevention measures, which are nowadays of paramount importance.

The new Bacillol® 30 Sensitive Tissues distributed by H&R Healthcare in the UK provide a solution to surface disinfection and ensure material friendly disinfection and cleansing of surfaces in all areas of Veterinary Surgery.

The ready-to-use disinfection wipes are pre-soaked with Bacillol® 30 Sensitive Foam which is aldehyde-, colorant- and fragrance-free.

The wipes are material compatible and suitable for sensitive materials like Makralon®, Plexiglas® and polysulphone. Therefore, the tissues can be used on displays, keyboards, monitoring systems, phones including smart/iPhones, theatre lights and ultrasonic heads.

Additional advantage is the high-quality tear proof PET fleece tissue which holds the disinfectant in the tissue. The surface coverage per tissue is approximately 1.52 m².

The composition of Bacillol® 30 Sensitive Tissues allows use without gloves e.g. within the reception area and in all other clinical areas should infection and occupational measures permit.

Bacillol®30 Sensitive Tissues have a high spectrum of efficacy and have been tested under dirty conditions.

Bacillol®30 Sensitive Tissues provide an excellent addition for infection prevention measures within every Veterinary Surgery for surface disinfection alongside Sterillium® products for hygienic and surgical hand disinfection.
